Pocket Day

v0.19.0 · Self-hosted · MIT

A journal that writes itself.

Pocket Day keeps one page per day: your own words on top, and underneath what the other apps on your server already know about it. Where you went, the photos you took, what played, what you watched, read, cooked and spent, gathered for you so the evening line is all that is left to write.

  • Included in Pocket Box
  • Sign in with Pocket Core
  • Works with Dawarich and Immich and Maloja and Jellystat and PinePods and Audiobookshelf and Forgejo and Nextcloud

The day page

Your line on top, the day underneath.

Write a highlight, a few sentences, a mood and tags; it saves as you type. Beside it are the numbers for the day, the photo grid, the places you stopped and the weather where you were.

Timeline

Everything in the order it happened.

Songs, podcast episodes, photos, places, finished tasks and your own moments line up by time. Today and yesterday are fetched again every 30 minutes, so the day is there when you open it in the evening.

  • Add short moments through the day, from the page, a Siri Shortcut or Raycast
  • Star a photo, a song or a place and it stays at the top of the day
  • Past days are stored once and still read when a source is gone

Journal

Find any day again.

The journal lists every written day with its highlight, tags, moments and a one-line summary from each source. Search your words, tags and moments, or filter by mood, a tag or the days you kept.

  • Memories: the same date in earlier years, on the page and in the morning push
  • An evening push asks how today was, and skips it once you have written

Year in review

The whole year at a glance.

Totals for the year, every day as a heatmap you can switch between photos, distance, music, spending, mood and more, and bars per month. The calendar does the same for one month.

  • Most played, most watched, books, places and the days you starred
  • With an OpenAI key, weeks, months and years written up as stories

And the rest of it

  • Many sources, all optional

Dawarich, Immich, Maloja, Jellystat, PinePods, Audiobookshelf, Forgejo, Nextcloud, Open-Meteo and the Pocket apps. A day only shows what you connected.

  • AI, only if you want it

Add an OpenAI key to draft the day from what the apps recorded, get one specific question about it, dictate, and ask your journal things. Without a key the buttons stay hidden.

  • Your words stay yours

The model only sees plain-text summaries of the days it needs, never photos, and you can keep your own words out of it.

  • Sources through Pocket Core

On a box with Pocket Core, each person connects the apps and services once, without pasting keys, and signs in with Pocket Core.

Install

One container. Set your time zone.

Run the image with a data folder, open it on port 8080, create your account and connect your sources under Settings, Sources. Set TZ: a day runs from midnight to midnight in that zone.

Already installed on a Pocket Box, with the sources linked through Pocket Core.
